Is Adults.co.uk legit? Who runs it, what it checks, what it costs

The questions you'd ask about any adult site before paying, answered for this one, including the parts that are less flattering.

By the Adults.co.uk editorial teamUpdated · 4 min read

In short

Adults.co.uk is an adult dating site for over-18s, run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company. Joining and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership that renews until cancelled, and checkout shows the billing name. Every photo is reviewed, but what members write about themselves is not checked, and profiles are shared with partner sites.

"Is it legit?" usually means four things: is there a real company behind it, will it take more money than I expect, are the people on it who they say they are, and can I leave cleanly? Here are the straight answers, followed by the parts worth being cautious about.

The short verdict

Adults.co.uk is a real, named business with published terms, a stated billing name, clear free and paid features, and a route to delete your account. It does not check what members say about themselves, and its member base is shared with partner sites. That combination is common in adult dating, and it's better to know it before you join than after.

Who runs it

Adults.co.uk is run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company, at 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA. The same company is named in the members' terms, which are governed by Delaware law and include an arbitration clause and a waiver of class actions. In plain terms, disputes are meant to be settled individually through arbitration rather than in a group court case. Read those terms before paying; they are the contract you're agreeing to.

Our about page has more on the company and the site, and key facts puts the essentials on one page.

What it costs, and how billing works

Joining, creating a profile and browsing are free. Reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership.

What it costs
Join, create a profile, browseFree
Read and reply to messagesPaid membership (weekly and monthly plans)
Optional extrasSuch as profile boosts and an ID-verified badge

The members area shows the exact price of each plan before you pay. Memberships renew automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing. Your card statement shows the billing name displayed at checkout.

What paying adds, beyond reading and replying to messages: read receipts, seeing who has viewed your profile, and viewing photos in full. Free members see adverts in the members area. Optional extras, such as the ID badge, are priced separately in the members area.

Four things to know before you pay:

  • Memberships renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel in Settings > Billing, ideally a day or two before the renewal date, and keep a screenshot of the confirmation.
  • Your statement shows the billing name displayed at checkout. Note it before you pay so you recognise the charge.
  • Refunds are limited. The members' terms allow a pro-rata refund only where at least 40% of the period is unused.
  • Check the currency. If a price isn't in pounds, your card provider may add a non-sterling transaction fee.

Our prices page has the detail on each plan.

What it checks, and what it doesn't

This is the part many adult sites blur, so here it is plainly.

Checked Not checked
Every photo uploaded to the platform is reviewed What members write about themselves: age, location, status, interests
Sign-ups through a VPN, and accounts flagged for review, must pass an ID and selfie check (run by LEM Verify) Most members are not asked for ID
Members can choose to verify for an optional paid ID badge Whether anyone's intentions are good

So a profile with the ID badge belongs to someone who has proved who they are. A profile without one may be perfectly genuine, but you're taking what it says on trust. The members' terms themselves caution that profiles and interactions may not always be what they seem, so treat everyone you meet online with the same sensible caution. Our page on what we check and what we don't goes into more detail.

Who sees your profile

Profiles on Adults.co.uk are shared with partner sites in the same network. Members who joined through those sites can see your profile and message you, and you can message them; each profile shows the site its owner joined through. It means more people, but it also means your profile isn't confined to this one site, so choose photos accordingly. The privacy and discretion page covers this.

What it doesn't claim

You won't find member numbers, success stories, star ratings or promises that everyone is local and waiting. We don't publish any of them, and you'd be right to be sceptical of any adult site that does.

The parts to be cautious about

Being straight about a site means listing its limits too:

  • Written profile details aren't checked. Ask for a short video call before meeting anyone.
  • The network is shared. People from partner sites can see and contact you.
  • Renewal is automatic. A diary reminder before the renewal date avoids surprises.
  • Some people you meet online aren't genuine, here or anywhere. Never send money to a member, and never start an ID check from a link someone sends you.

Signs of any adult site worth trusting

Whichever site you choose, these are good signs: a named company with an address, prices and renewal terms shown before you pay, a stated billing name, a specific account of what is checked, and a clear way to delete your account. Warning signs are the opposite: no company name, "every profile verified" with no explanation, members "waiting near you", and no clear way to cancel. Our guide to adult dating in the UK has a fuller checklist.

How to leave

  1. Cancel any paid membership in Settings > Billing, so it doesn't renew.
  2. Open your avatar menu, go to Settings and choose Delete Account.

Cancelling on its own leaves your profile in place, so do both if you're leaving for good. For account or billing questions, the members help centre is the place to ask; our contact page explains how to reach it.

Questions people ask

Who owns Adults.co.uk?

Adults.co.uk is run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company at 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA. The same company is named in the members' terms, which are the contract you agree to when you join, and which are governed by Delaware law.

Are the profiles real?

Every photo is reviewed, and some sign-ups, such as those through a VPN, must pass an ID and selfie check. What members write about themselves is not verified. The optional ID badge shows who has confirmed their identity; a profile without one may be genuine, but you're taking it on trust.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are limited. The members-area terms allow a pro-rata refund only where at least 40% of the membership period is unused. Cancelling stops the next renewal but doesn't refund the current period, so cancel before the renewal date if you don't want to continue.

Will anyone know from my bank statement?

The charge appears under the billing name displayed at checkout, which may not mention Adults.co.uk. Note that name before you pay so you recognise it, and bear it in mind if someone else sees your statements. Our privacy and discretion page covers the rest.

Can I use Adults.co.uk without paying?

Yes, up to a point. Joining, building a profile, browsing and receiving interest are free, and free members see adverts. To read and reply to messages you need a paid membership, so most people who want to meet someone will pay at some stage.
